Microinsurance as a Tool for Poverty Alleviation and Economic Empowerment

Dr. Mahesh Chand Meena & Dr. Saroj Kumar

Microinsurance has become a key tool for cutting poverty and boosting economic resilience among poor families. Through cheap coverage for health issues, harvest failures, injury, death, and halted business, it stops short-term problems from turning into long-term poverty cycles. Research indicates worth goes past paying after bad events happen; if built right inside larger money systems, microinsurance helps people join finance markets, pushes them to take smart risks, and aids green growth goals. Data also points out that online methods, mixing products together, reliable local helpers, and government help via aid or rules can boost usage and results. Yet big hurdles stay, such as little knowledge about insurance, low trust, cash flow limits, fears insurers might fail, unfair choices, mismatched payouts, and poor market setups. This paper brings together studies on microinsurance as a route to ending poverty and giving power economically, focusing heavily on joining finance, managing danger, and lasting progress.
