EXPLORING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

S Sharmila & K Guru

In recent decades, the emergence of social entrepreneurship as a field dedicated to addressing social problems has coincided with a renewed focus on the sustainable development of economic, environmental, and social systems. As change agents operating at the intersection of the business and social sectors, social entrepreneurs are uniquely positioned to participate in a growing number of initiatives. Policymakers, investors, and organisations for-profit and nonprofit increasingly recognise the connections between economic, environmental, and social issues and corporate activities. These stakeholders share an understanding that innovative and entrepreneurial approaches can amplify efforts to tackle these challenges. As the public and private sectors pay more attention to social entrepreneurship, a wider array of participants in these emerging discussions appreciate business's important role in a democratic society. The business's strategic goals include creating profits and expanding employment opportunities for individuals and their families. Furthermore, companies must be closely linked to the economic and social systems that depend on various stakeholders with a vested interest in providing public goods. This connection underscores the essential role of business, and the rise of social entrepreneurship highlights business institutions' vitality and political relevance in addressing societal needs.
