GENDER INEQUALITY IN POLITICAL PARTICIPATION IN HARYANA: A SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL ANALYSIS

Gender inequality in political participation is a serious problem in many regions of the globe, including the state of Haryana in India. Despite constitutional provisions providing equal rights and opportunities to men and women, the fact is that women are typically disadvantaged and excluded from political processes, including voting, contesting elections, and decision-making at different levels. The patriarchal social structure, deep-rooted cultural norms, and gender stereotypes prevalent in Haryana have led to the continuance of gender inequality in politics. This article will investigate the situation of gender inequality in political involvement in Haryana, the reasons of the issue, and proposed remedies to create more gender equity in politics. In this research paper gender inequality in political aspect has been shown using by the indicators like political participation of women in Lok Sabha and assembly election in Haryana for the period 1991 to 2009 and discusses various initiatives taken by the Government of India for empowering women.
