THE ROLE OF HR PRACTICES IN PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Dr. Rita Nagpal

The notion of sustainable development is gaining increased attention from a vast array of stakeholders, including administrators, politicians, consumers, and academia. Further, the Human Resource department is involved in resolving the ongoing doubts, and disagreements that are emerging among the stakeholders, besides the possibilities and dangers that are posed by environmental issues. The concept of environmental human resource management (HRM) is a response to the increasing significance of HRM as a tool for achieving sustainable business operations. But the pertinent question is whether it is an option to be "green" or is it the only way? This article aims to construct a description of Green HRM, study the manner in which various firms have adopted it, and identify its policies, practices, and benefits. This article aims to explore and understand the current condition of the green practices followed by various companies. In addition to this, it emphasizes the significance of human resource management in fostering environmental consciousness within the business sector.
