The World Happiness Report is a report by the United Nations that measures national happiness. The ranking uses six key factors and fourteen areas within its core questions to measure happiness. The present paper based on secondary data analysis the India’s rank in world happiness index from its inception. The data discover that India's position in the world happiness index is far behind, and its score is also very low. India's position in WHI has not improved over the time. India ranks one of the least happy countries in the world. In order to get a comparative picture of India's position in the World Happiness Index, India has been compared among different economies of the world such as the world's largest economy, World’s smallest economies, World’s highest and lowest per capita GDP etc. India falls behind the neighbour countries such as Nepal, China, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. According to the research paper Ecorwap from SBI, the World Happiness Index 2023 ranks India incorrectly at 126th, these are some controversy too.
