This research study makes an attempt to evaluate India's progress toward achieving the “Sustainable development goals” established by the “United Nations” in 2015. The Sustainable Development Goals Index has been published annually by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Ayog) since 2018.This study examines the factors that have influenced India's performance on key SDGs, both positively and negatively, taking into account the SDG 2018 and SDG 2019 Indexes, respectively. This paper will also emphasise the areas that will assist policy makers and government officials in improving the achievement of the “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs). The implication of this research will further add to the very small body of literature on sustainable development in the Indian setting.
