COMMUNITY-BASED APPROACHES TO SNAKE PROTECTION IN GUJARAT STATE

The coexistence of humans and snakes in regions such as Gujarat State presents both opportunities and challenges for conservation. This research paper explores the immense promise of community-based approaches in addressing human-snake conflicts while conserving biodiversity. These approaches align with the principles of sustainable development, emphasizing the empowerment of local communities as stewards of their environment. Through education, awareness, and policy support, we aim to achieve a harmonious balance between humans and snakes, ensuring the preservation of essential snake populations and the ecological integrity of Gujarat's diverse habitats. By involving communities in snake protection initiatives, this research highlights the potential for reducing conflicts, fostering responsible resource use, and enhancing overall biodiversity conservation. This holistic approach, grounded in community engagement and scientific knowledge, represents a pivotal step towards sustainable coexistence, showcasing the significance of collaboration between community members, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations in achieving long-term conservation success.
