We live in the knowledge society in which education is seen as a key for development and progress. In such a society the Role and responsibility of a teacher is changing day by day. Teacher in the contemporary society need to be completely equipped professionally and in terms of high academic norms, pedagogical and practical skills, ethical and moral values. To produce good scholars, we need good teacher. To prepare good teacher we need good teacher education programme. Teacher education is a term rather recent in its origin. It refers to the total instructive process which contributes to the medication of a person for a tutoring job in seminaries. The instructive process includes the programme of course and other gests offered by teacher ’ collages of seminaries and universities for the purpose of preparing persons for tutoring and other educational service and for contributing to their growth and faculty for similar service. The 12th Five Time Plan of the Government of India states that enhancement in the quality of education isn't possible without investing significantly into perfecting the quality of teaching and teacher. Indeed, we owe it to every child of the country to give education of the loftiest quality. The design for quality teacher education thus needs to be mounted as a charge. Justice Verma Empowerment explosively recommended strengthening teacher education programme in entire India. The quality of education we give to children depends to a large extend upon the quality of teacher we fit into the education system, which in turn depends on the quality of teacher’ medications through teacher education programs. The quality of any educational system depends to large extend upon the quality of educational process, which is determined by the capability, commitment and resourcefulness of teacher. Tutoring profession is a veritably grueling one, as each day and each classroom is a new experience in itself and offers ample opportunities to the teacher for learning through his/ her experience. At this juncture, teacher education needs to be given the most important place in the system of education.
