Education for Sustainability is one of the important need of the hour. This is a conceptual paper in order to understand the importance of sustainability in the education department of the country. Various teaching and learning strategies can be adopted to encourage students towards sustainability. The curriculum of the school must include the activities and topics related to the sustainability. The objective of the paper is to understand the role played by education in understanding and developing sustainability. This paper is a conceptual research paper to conceptualize the concept of sustainability by the way of education. The data has been collected from various secondary sources in reference to sustainability and education. To retain and maintain anything for future will mean to sustain it and that is what is necessary to teach the students whether young or adult practically so that the concept of sustainability will be well known among every member of the society.
