Tourism is a service industry and it is based on human resource. This paper explores the current trends in tourism education system in India with respect to human resource development through tourism education. This paper examines to know stakeholders’ perspective on the quality, competence and availability of manpower in tourism with reference to the problems of supply from tourism education. It aims to assess the potential to develop existing tourism education system and analysis the future initiative in tourism education in India. This paper further analyses the growth of tourism in India with respect of tourism education and the government’s role, participation, promotion and policy making in the development of tourism education system.
